New to the 2017-2018 school year, full-day kindergarten will be offered through the Wasatch Family Foundation as a private, tuition-based program. This class will follow similar hours as the 1st to 8th grade classes at the Wasatch Charter School.
Full-day kindergarten will provide much the same curriculum and pedagogy as the Wasatch Charter School kindergarten class, but in an expanded form. Unique to the private full-day kindergarten program will be the inclusion of a dual-language component. Students will have instruction in both English and Spanish throughout the day, as well as a Spanish language class in the afternoons. In addition, full-day kindergarten students will have eurythmy instruction each week.
The full-day kindergarten class will be taught by Ms. Jo Greer, a veteran teacher with a deep commitment to Waldorf education. Ms. Jo will draw on her nearly thirty years in the classroom in early childhood education, high schools, and special education to complement the Waldorf approach to teaching. She will be joined by Ms. Beatriz Alvarez throughout the day as an assistant teacher and lead Spanish teacher. Students in the full-day kindergarten will benefit from the collaboration and warmth that these two teachers have developed during the past year helping to form the kinder program at WCS.
We are now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year. If you are interested in applying, please refer to the Admissions Process.
